ViXS™ and Wyplay Collaborate on Next Generation Media Gateway Solution

ViXS' XCode^® Network Media Processor System on Chip (SoC) delivers best-in-class performance to provide a global solution to the emerging mobility media gateway with integrated router capability

TORONTO, Sept. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - ViXS Systems Inc. today announces a partnership with Wyplay to develop advanced gateway solution based on the XCode 4300 family targeting new home architectures where the router and gateway combined becomes the media hub. This gateway solution aggregates, stores and distributes protected content to connected networked and mobile media client devices. This innovative architecture puts all the intelligence and processing in the gateway and reduces the complexity and cost by leveraging consumer electronics products as viewing devices such as smart TVs, PCs, tablets and smart phones. This new gateway requires high performance multimedia functions and is made possible using the XCode^® 43xx network processor and ViXS Xtensiv^™ software combined with Wyplay's middleware. Wyplay is a global leader and innovator in advanced middleware product. This groundbreaking solution will be showcased at ViXS' Suite G104 at IBC 2012 in the RAI Amsterdam.

The XCode 4300 family of network media processors, currently in production, offers high system performance integrating extensive functions such as dual HD transcoding, encoding, 2D/3D graphics acceleration and network processing. This SoC family with best-in-class patented transcoding technology in conjunction with Wyplay's software creates an innovative gateway solution offering functionalities such as multiscreen place shifting, network attached storage (NAS), DVR and secure management and distribution of content. Using Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA©) and HTML5, this gateway can stream video to networked and mobile devices such as IP based set-top boxes, smart connected TVs, PCs, smart phones and tablets.
