Voting Begins to Select 2010 Military Spouse of the Year
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Military Spouse magazine announced that voting is open for its third annual Military Spouse of the Year (MSOY) award, presented by Armed Forces Insurance. All Americans are encouraged to vote at www.msoy.milspouse.com, where you can find profiles and photos of these amazing military spouses.
Public voting is open through February 10 and will help determine one winner from each service branch. A second public voting period will run from February 17 through March 10 to help determine the overall winner.
Nominators submitted essays about their nominee. A panel of military spouses selected five nominees from each service branch for the first voting round. Twenty-four are wives and one is a husband. The MSOY represents the millions of military spouses who give back selflessly to their communities and support our nation's troops.
"It's important to recognize the patriotism and sacrifice of military spouses, who provide unwavering support for their partners serving our country overseas," said Col. Tom Dials (U.S. Army, Ret.), chairman of Armed Forces Insurance, the sponsor of the 2010 Military Spouse of the Year award. "We are proud to honor their selfless spirit and altruism."
The overall 2010 MSOY winner will be announced at the third annual MSOY Awards Ceremony to be held on May 7 in Washington, DC, in conjunction with National Military Spouse Appreciation Day. The winner will also grace the cover of the June issue of Military Spouse magazine, write a monthly column in Military Spouse magazine and make public appearances through May 2011. National Security Advisor General (ret.) James Jones and spouses of generals, admirals, Congressmen, CEOs and ambassadors honored the 2009 MSOY at last year's Washington event.
