VTech Strengthens Position as No.1 Global Manufacturer of Cordless Telephones

HONG KONG, Aug. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- VTech Holdings Ltd (HKSE: 303) today announced that independent research had re-affirmed its position as the number one global manufacturer of cordless telephones, with manufacturer share rising to 31% in 2010. The Group also gained its leadership position in Western Europe.

The study was carried out by MZA Ltd, a UK based telecommunications and IT analyst firm.  Its Global Telecommunications Market Report (2011 Edition) confirmed that VTech produced more cordless phone base stations than any of its rivals in 2010 overall. Growth was seen in all markets worldwide, particularly in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In Western Europe, the Group had gained the leadership position, where its market share rose from 22% in 2009 to 29% in 2010.

In the financial year ended 31 March 2011, VTech shipped over 45 million handsets and its global sales of telecommunication products reached US$727.5 million.
