MAPLE GROVE, Minn., Aug. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- This is exactly what leaders in the e-cigarette industry are promoting. On August 8th, 2016 the FDA's regulations over electronic cigarettes will begin and it threatens to wipe out 99% of vaping companies within 2 years.
The vaping industry has band together, competition no more, and will take a stand against what appears to be an obvious overreach of government power. The Right to be Smoke-Free Coalition (r2bsmokefree.org) is a non-profit, industry-led trade association of e-vapor businesses which on August 8th, 2016 is leading some of the largest online and offline e-cigarette stores to blackout, and possibly lose millions of dollars to show consumers what the future of vaping looks like. They have two goals in mind; bring awareness and advocacy to an industry that has saved millions of lives from cigarettes.
The idea of the blackout was inspired by William Uecker from VistaVapors.com who was a smoker for over 18 years and quit using electronic cigarettes. He states that "Everywhere we look, we see big business interests corrupting the truth and affecting millions of lives. With nearly unlimited funds, the big money always seems to drown out the truth when it suits them."
For a moment, imagine taking any technology and forcing it to go backwards 9 years, would you stand for that? The FDA's regulations over e-cigarettes contain a grandfather date of Feb 17th, 2007, which will force nearly all products into a lengthy and very expensive application process. These applications may cost upwards of $1 to $4 million per variation without any guarantee of approval and the decision of acceptance will be left up to the FDA. The e-cigarette industry as a whole is not against regulations, age restrictions, child-proof caps or thorough manufacturing processes, instead they welcome it.
On August 6th, a movie documentary called "A Billion Lives" which premieres in Milwaukee will also be in the headlines with a global release expected soon after. The movie exposes the history and corruption of the cigarette industry, the government's participation and identifies that our idea of consumer health and protection may not actually be in our best interest.
