Walbridge Receives 'Top Workplace', 'Elite' Recognition in Competitions

DETROIT, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Walbridge has been recognized by the Detroit Free Press as a 2010 Top Workplace in Michigan and has also received the 2010 "Elite Award for Recruitment and Selection" from the Michigan Business and Professional Association.

The Free Press unveiled findings from its 2010 Top Workplaces survey on Oct. 3 and listed Walbridge as one of the Top Mid-size workplaces in the state.  "For the third year," the Free Press reported, "the survey reveals which employers are getting it right when it comes to motivating workers and giving them flexibility and direction."

At the top workplaces, the Free Press added, "employers are taking extra steps to ensure their workers feel appreciated.  In today's challenging business environment, this kind of approach can produce lasting benefits, such as deep employee commitment and loyalty."

The rankings of the state's top workplaces will be disclosed at a Nov. 11 ceremony.

On Sept. 22, Walbridge received the "Elite Award" from the Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA) for its recruitment and selection practices under the association's "Metropolitan Detroit's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For" program.  The award was presented to Terry Merritt, group vice president of Human Resources at Walbridge.

Walbridge was also named one of "Metropolitan Detroit's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For" in 2010.  It is the eighth consecutive year Walbridge has earned the distinction.

Walbridge last received an MBPA Elite Award for Communication in 2009 and one for Employee Education and Development in 2003.
