Walker & Dunlop Ranked #1 Fannie Mae DUS® Lender by Volume for 2014

BETHESDA, Md., Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Walker & Dunlop, Inc. (the "Company") (NYSE: WD) announced today that it was ranked as the largest Fannie Mae DUS^® Lender by volume in 2014.  This is the third consecutive year Walker & Dunlop has been Fannie Mae's largest partner in multifamily lending.  Fannie Mae was the largest supplier of capital to the multifamily marketplace in 2014, providing $28.9 billion across all asset classes and geographies.

Approximately 99 percent of the $28.9 billion Fannie Mae provided to the multifamily market in 2014 was delivered through its Delegated Underwriting and Servicing (DUS^®) program. DUS is unique in that it relies on shared risk whereby private lenders originate multifamily loans for Fannie Mae and retain some of the credit risk. The DUS program maintained extremely low default rates throughout the financial crisis because both parties have a stake in loan performance. Walker & Dunlop has been a DUS lender since the program's inception in 1988.
