Wallick & Volk Supports Long-Term Recovery Efforts In West TX

WACO, Texas, July 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wallick & Volk announced today that they are expanding their charitable outreach in many of the communities they serve.  This effort has already begun in West Texas.   

The April 17^th explosion at a fertilizer plant in West devastated the central Texas community.  More than a dozen people lost their lives and hundreds more were injured.  Many of those lost were firefighters and first responders.  The explosion caused extensive destruction to the surrounding area. 

Julie Brinker, Wallick & Volk Branch Manager in Waco Texas, explains "The explosion in West deeply impacted our community; we wanted to help in a significant way."  Wallick & Volk joined with the Waco Association of Realtors (WAOR) to raise funds for the victims in West.   The WAOR raised over $24,000, with $11,000 coming from Wallick & Volk Mortgage.

The Executive Director of West Long-Term Recovery, Karen Bernsen commented, "These funds will be used to help rebuild West. That may be in the form of assistance to a homeowner who needs just a little bit to cover the gap between FEMA funds and insurance, or it may be going to someone who we can help purchase building materials so the charitable builders can provide the labor. "
