Walmart Mexico Foundation Provides 500 Tons of Aid to Victims of Devastating Flooding in Mexico
- Aid will cover basic needs of 200,000 persons for a few days
- Walmart Mexico Foundation donates 100 tons of food and products to the Mexican Red Cross to assist victims of devastating flooding
- Also matches the 200 tons of food and products donated by customers at 887 stores throughout Mexico
MEXICO CITY, Sept. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Walmart Mexico Foundation has provided 500 tons of food and products to the Mexican Red Cross to distribute to victims in several states in Mexico affected by torrential rains and flooding. The aid will cover the basic needs of more than 200,000 persons for a few days.
In addition to an initial 100 ton donation, the Walmart Mexico Foundation has committed to match every kilo donated by customers, through its Kilo per Kilo campaign. All food and products are delivered to the Red Cross to be distributed to the thousands of families that have lost homes and crops in rural areas and cities along the coasts of the Pacific and Gulf of Mexico.
Walmart de Mexico and Central America stores (Bodega Aurrera, Sam's Club, Superama and Walmart) will continue to receive in kind donations through the Kilo per Kilo campaign.
