Walsh College Offers Test Prep Classes for Tax Return Preparers
TROY, Mich., June 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Walsh College, acclaimed school of accounting and taxation degrees, is now offering exam preparation classes for registered tax return preparers (RTRP). Coursework covers the entire body of knowledge required by the IRS, according to its most recent ruling for return preparers who are not CPAs, attorneys or enrolled agents. In addition, the program provides test-taking tools for successful completion of the exam.
The Walsh non-credit course is eligible for 10 of the 15 hours mandated by the IRS for continuing education. Classes are being offered at the Troy campus and will be taught by Adjunct Professor Eric Skinner, an IRS attorney. Additional online study aids are included in the tuition, available through the Gleim learning system. On-site classes will be held on the following dates during the summer of 2012:
- Monday, June 25 6 - 8 p.m.
- Monday, July 16 6 - 9 p.m.
- Monday, July 30 6 - 9 p.m.
- Monday, August 13 6 - 9 p.m.
The Walsh RTRP will also:
- Identify trouble areas for test-takers and offer solutions for added study
- Gauge understanding of learning gains through regular quizzes
- Offer a simulated exam environment with the final quiz

Eric R. Skinner is the managing counsel for the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in Detroit. He has been with the Office of Chief Counsel since 1995. Prior to joining the IRS, Skinner was a tax attorney with the Detroit office of Deloitte and Touche. A graduate of Michigan State University College of Law, he received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Michigan–Dearborn. Skinner serves as an adjunct professor in the tax LL.M. program at Thomas M. Cooley Law School and the taxation program at Walsh College.
