Want the Best Value for Your Textbook Bucks? Look Beyond Your Campus Bookstore
University and college students save hundreds of dollars shopping for books online
AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- A recent survey comparing the cost of textbooks from ten campus bookstores to prices from FindersCheapers.com found school bookstores charged an average of $237.92 more for the same textbooks. The list of books surveyed covered five courses representing a moderately difficult freshman workload at each school. Savings on surveyed textbooks at FindersCheapers.com ranged from $156.66 at Arizona State Tempe up to $416.96 at Miami Dade College.
The amount a student can save shopping for textbooks online surprised James Krewson, CEO of FindersCheapers.com. "My price comparison website has been popular with college students for years. I recently decided to compare textbook prices at campus bookstores to FindersCheapers.com to see for myself. The results greatly exceeded my expectations!"

Survey Notes
- Electronic textbook prices were not considered. FindersCheapers used or rental textbook prices were cheaper than the electronic versions available at campus bookstore websites for most textbooks checked.
- FindersCheapers.com can often save students more than this survey indicates. They took the lowest price from a university bookstore and compared it with the lowest price item of the same condition. Additional money can be saved if a student buys used or rents a book when the bookstore has only new copies. While the survey focused on textbooks, FindersCheapers also finds the best online prices for other school supplies such as the I Clicker, laptops and graphing calculators.
- While textbook rentals often have the least initial outlay, students may save more money by buying used books online and then selling them online via Amazon Marketplace or Half.com after their course is complete.
