TACOMA, Wash., June 7, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA), a tuition-free, online public school serving students in grades K-12 will host an in-person graduation ceremony for its class of 2016 graduating seniors.
On June 12, more than 100 students from across the state of Washington who have completed their academics online and developed friendships virtually will meet in-person to celebrate.
WAVA provides a flexible learning environment for students, allowing them to complete their school work on a schedule that works best for them. While working with the award-winning K12 curriculum, Washington state-certified teachers provide assistance helping students fill in skill gaps and move toward high school graduation. That makes this event particularly meaningful for WAVA students and families.
Graduates will be addressed by commencement speaker Dr. Erik Swanson, Omak School District Superintendent. Additionally, WAVA valedictorians Natasha Braunstein, Alexandra Lupton, Taylor Moreno, and Margaret Montowski will address their fellow graduates. Natasha Braunstein plans to continue her attendance at Green River Community College to complete her Associate of Arts degree. Alexandra Lupton plans to attend Whitman College, Taylor Moreno Plans to continue at Grays Harbor College to complete his Associate of Art Degree, and Margaret Montowski will be taking a year off to travel abroad before continuing with her education.
