WatchGuard Earns Top Spot in Network World Product Shootout for UTM Firewall Appliances

SEATTLE, Jan. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- WatchGuard® Technologies, a leader in multi-function firewalls, has earned a top spot in Network World's latest Unified Threat Management (UTM) product shootout. Scored based on Installation, Features and Value, WatchGuard's Firebox® T10 received 4.8 out of 5, being recognized for its real-time visibility tool, WatchGuard Dimension™, as well as its exceptional user management interface, and powerful security technologies, like Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) protection.

WatchGuard tied with Check Point for the top spot in the review. Other solutions reviewed included Dell/Sonicwall, Fortinet, Sophos and Calyptix, with Cisco, Juniper and Netgear declining to participate. For Installation, Network World reviewed the basic setup of various network interfaces, users and licenses. For Features, they looked at the ability to manage and monitor the box remotely, set up new security policies, review reports, and module integration. Finally for Value, they evaluated overall first year purchase price plus support and software license costs.
