Waterstone Financial Receives High Rank in 2013 Bank Performance Scorecard
WAUWATOSA, Wis., Sept. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Waterstone Financial, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSBF), holding company for WaterStone Bank, ranked 22 of 187 financial institutions in the $1 billion to $5 billion asset category, or in the top 12 percent, in Bank Director Magazine's annual Bank Performance Scorecard.
The scorecard, released last month in Bank Director's third-quarter issue, assessed bank performance in the year 2012. A total of 289 institutions made the list.
The Bank Performance Scorecard is a ranking of publicly traded banks listed on the NASDAQ OMX or NYSE EURONEXT stock exchange. Banks are divided into three asset categories and ranked by scores based on profitability, asset quality and capitalization during the 2012 calendar year.
Waterstone was the top ranked of the four Wisconsin-based financial institutions included on the list. The institution's 2013 rank of 22 (with a final score of 189.5) in their asset category marks a significant improvement over their 2012 rank of 157 out of 195 institutions (final score 564.5), which placed them in the bottom fifth of the list last year.
