WCC Wins Top Tier Vendor Position at Mitre Multi-cultural Name Matching Challenge

MITRE's Inaugural Name Matching Challenge Determines the Top Identity Matching Technologies for Government Departments
WCC, a global leader in advanced search and match technologies, today announced that its ELISE ID software was awarded one of the three Top Tier Vendors in the MITRE Multi-cultural Name Matching Challenge. MITRE organized the challenge to determine the top identity matching technologies as part of its ongoing research for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
The MITRE organization, a non-profit research organization for the US federal government, issued a comprehensive name matching challenge to the participating companies. The challenge focused on using only name information to determine an identity, since this is a central challenge in, for example, government watch list operations, background checks, and fraud prevention efforts.
WCC's ELISE ID is a versatile and powerful search and match software system that uses all available data in determining an identity, including names and other biographic or contextual data as well as data from multiple biometric modalities. For the MITRE Multi-cultural Name Matching Challenge, the company used a range of libraries and algorithms, as well as its intelligent fusion capabilities, to iteratively improve match results.
This approach allowed WCC's ELISE ID technology to adapt to the MITRE criteria and to create a configuration that was optimized for the challenge. This approach is how WCC works with each of its customers in real-world deployments so that the technology meets customer and context specific needs.
