WASHINGTON, Oct. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Register now for the XBRL Challenge Webinar featuring Philip Moyer, Managing Director in the Technology Group at Safeguard Scientifics, who will discuss today's venture capital environment and the opportunities with XBRL applications.
Over 60 individuals, companies and academics have already entered the XBRL Challenge, a contest designed to ignite innovation and spur further development of analytical applications that consume XBRL financial statement data. Approximately 2/3 of the entrants to date are from the U.S., with the balance from Asia, Europe, Canada and Australia. The Challenge seeks to reach developers and technologists, both individuals or teams as well as companies to get educated, share ideas and create original, useful tools for investors, researchers, regulators, economists, watchdogs and academics. A $20,000 prize will be awarded to the top applicant. Final applications must be submitted by January 31, 2012 and the prize will be awarded on February 29, 2012.
