William Valentine was born in New York City and grew up on the Jersey Shore. He resides with his wife in Florida, where he has owned and operated a major Boatyard for the past 30 years. His interests include sailboat racing, big game and flats fishing, bird hunting, and blues music. He holds a B.A. in English Literature. Among his favorite authors are John O'Hara, John D.
