Wellard's successful tie-up with Team USA in ISDE

HOUSTON, Oct. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's leading sheep and cattle exporter, Wellard, has again occupied the winner's podium in the world's biggest off road racing event, the International Six Days Enduro, as part of its support of the United States team.

The company, which exports beef and dairy cattle from the United States, partnered the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) to support the 31 rider American team at this year's ISDE in Germany.

Wellard and the riders were rewarded by the Junior Trophy Team consisting of Thaddeus Duvall, Travis Coy, Andrew Delong and Jesse Groemm, who battled out for six days on some of the harshest terrain Germany had to offer to place third.

The Wellard-supported junior riders, who were all under 23 years of age, consistently turned in some of the fastest times for the event and were rewarded with third outright for their efforts, just behind winners France and second placed Great Britain.

Wellard also supported a Club based team of its own, consisting of Fred Hoess, Jordan Brandt and Johnny Barber. The Wellard Club Team was the fastest American Club Team, placing 13^th outright from the 80 teams entered in the World Club Team Cup.

C1 rider Fred Hoess has competed in 22 ISDEs and is second outright in the world for Gold medals, with 16 out of 22 he has attended. He lead the team and consistently put in the quickest special test stages. His experience and professionalism showed through for the entire week, as he claimed his 17^th ISDE Gold.

C2 rider Johnny Barber had to deal with a massive crash and injury to his leg in the days just prior to commencement of the event, along with a series of small mechanical issues that plagued him over the course of the race. Even with the issues, he was able to claim a silver medal.      

Jordan Brandt was impressive with an 8^th outright overall in the C3 division and scored a gold medal for his efforts. His tough never say die riding style saw him revel in the extreme conditions of the special tests and his pace on the trail was equal to the challenge.

Wellard has supported teams at the ISDE on a multinational level since 2007, when it first sent a team to La Serena in Chile. The company has assisted teams from Australia and New Zealand with great results and the Wellard ethos that passion and courage will win the day.
