LOUISVILLE, Ky. and TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 27, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- WellCare of Kentucky, a subsidiary of WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG), has been named One Of The Best Places To Work in Kentucky by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management and Lifestyle Health Plans.
This is the second year in a row WellCare has been named to this prestigious list. WellCare, which employs approximately 300 associates in six offices in Kentucky, was nominated in the "Large Company" category.
"I am proud of our associates and their tireless dedication to fulfilling our mission of helping our members live better, healthier lives," said William Jones, north division president and plan president for Kentucky. "This honor is a testament to the knowledge that we are only as good as our passionate associates. When you show a level of caring and commitment that makes them feel more than just an employee, it inspires them to go above and beyond for themselves and others, particularly our members."
The selection process is based on an assessment of the company's employee policies and procedures and the results of an internal employee survey. The competition is designed to motivate companies to "focus, measure and move their workplace environments toward excellence."
The nominated companies will be honored at an awards dinner on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Heritage Hall in the Lexington Convention Center. Winners for each of the three categories: small companies of 15-149 employees, medium companies of 150-499 employees and large companies consisting of more than 500 employees, will be announced at that event.
As of Dec. 31, 2018, WellCare serves approximately 444,000 Medicaid members, 14,000 Medicare Advantage plan members and 22,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members in Kentucky. To learn more about how we care for Kentuckians, watch Brandi's story at http://youtu.be/YwOw5EgeSYo.
