West Virginia Attorney Ben Bailey Named Part of Counsel Team in National Toyota Lawsuit
CHARLESTON, W.Va., May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- United States District Court Judge James V. Selna of the Central District of California Friday appointed West Virginia attorney Benjamin Bailey as one of nine lawyers to the Plaintiffs' Counsel Committee for Economic Loss in the national lawsuit filed against Toyota Motor Corporation.
The more than 300 cases pending against Toyota and any other future lawsuits will be consolidated and litigated by the legal team appointed by Judge Selna.
Bailey is a founding partner in the Charleston, West Virginia law firm of Bailey & Glasser (B&G).
Bailey's role on the Plaintiffs' Counsel Committee will include managing and coordinating efforts to force Toyota to compensate owners of its vehicles for their financial losses and fix the sudden acceleration problem.
Bailey and fellow B&G attorney Eric Snyder are one of the first attorneys in the country to litigate cases against Toyota for sudden acceleration problems with their vehicles. B&G aggressively pursued litigation for a Michigan family who lost their matriarch when her 2005 Toyota Camry accelerated out of control.
Snyder's work in the Michigan case has led to depositions and the release of critical information from key Toyota officials.
"The Bailey & Glasser (B&G) law firm has been involved in the Toyota sudden acceleration issue since 2008," said Bailey. "The judge's appointment is gratifying and recognizes our early involvement in the case and the quality of the work our firm produces for our clients."
Bailey says B&G has established a website for victims of sudden acceleration from a Toyota vehicle. The website – www.suddenaccelerationproblem.com – provides information about sudden acceleration problems and gives individuals a way to contact Bailey & Glasser should they or a loved have had an acceleration issue with a Toyota vehicle.
Bailey, a graduate of Harvard Law School, has successfully handled a broad variety of cases for clients as diverse as the State of West Virginia, major domestic and international businesses, public officials from both major political parties, and individuals with life-threatening problems.
Bailey & Glasser has offices in Charleston and Morgantown, WV, Washington, DC and Springfield, IL. The firm has a staff of 31 experienced and highly-educated lawyers, licensed in eleven (11) states. The firm's litigation practice focuses on high-stakes, complex litigation, including class and individual actions involving defective products.
