Western US Bocce Club Championship
Best in the West Competition
LIVERMORE, Calif., June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The first ever United States Bocce Federation (USBF) Western Sector Bocce Club Championship will be held over Labor Day Weekend at Livermore California's, Campo di Bocce.
Bocce clubs, senior center teams and city parks teams from Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California are all invited to compete for the "Best in the West" honors with a guaranteed minimum prize purse of $3,000.
The competition, presented by Italy's Molinari Sambuca and numerous other Bocce supporters, is open to all comers, and all Bocce clubs or organizations in the West are invited to send their best teams.
There will be two divisions of play, Open A and Open B. To qualify for the Open B Division, and in order to keep the playing field even, none of the team members on any Open B team can have ever previously medaled in a USBF United States championship. Any club formed and organized before January 1, 2012 is eligible.
The format of play will be Round Robin, and USBF Open Rules, with four players per team. Matching team uniforms, both tops and bottoms are required. Entry fee per team is $200 with entry forms for the competition due by August 10, 2012. All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt along with entrance to the Campo di Bocce hosted welcome reception on Friday evening as well as continental breakfast Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
The tournament will begin on Saturday, September 1, 8AM, and will continue Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend September 1st through September 3rd. The awards ceremony will take place immediately following the playoffs on Monday, September 3rd.
With the number of Bocce enthusiasts and clubs in the West, this event has the potential of becoming one of the biggest Bocce tournaments in the world.
