Whistleblower Law Team Established on Eve of National Whistleblower Appreciation Day
Former Prosecutors Join Forces Carrying On American Tradition Representing Whistleblowers
NEW YORK, July 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Four former federal prosecutors announced today the formation of a strategic law firm alliance called the Whistleblower Law Team, which utilizes their Government experience and knowhow in different geographic jurisdictions. The team will be combining resources to assist whistleblowers under the False Claims Act, SEC, IRS and CFTC Whistleblower Programs and other laws designed to help detect fraud, compensate those who report it, and protect whistleblowers from employment retaliation. Team members are Timothy J. McInnis (New York, NY), Julie Grohovsky (Washington, DC), Thomas R. Fallati (Albany, NY) and Paul B. Brickfield (Bergen County, NJ).
The Whistleblower Law Team's announcement comes one day before National Whistleblower Appreciation Day (July 30), which was established through a unanimous resolution by the U.S. Senate on July 7, 2016.
Each of the team's members feels passionate about representing whistleblowers and shared some of their views and sentiments in joining the Whistleblower Law Team.
Founder and NYC attorney Tim McInnis noted past and present contributions whistleblowers have made to a fair and orderly American economic system. "As the Senate's proclamation for National Whistleblower Appreciation Day shows, whistleblowers have been recognized and rewarded for their courageous efforts going back to at least 1777 when 10 sailors blew the whistle on fraud and misconduct harmful to the United States. Fast forward to the present, and we see in Department of Justice's most recent report that more than $3.5 billion has been returned to the US Treasury under the Federal False Claims Act alone—most from "qui tam" cases, where whistleblowers typically receive between 15% and 30% of recovered funds. As both lawyers and Americans, we are proud to carry on this essential tradition of bringing fraud against the Government and taxpayers to light."
