LOS ANGELES, April 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- American Golf is pleased to announce the addition of Whittier Narrows Golf Course to its nationwide portfolio of daily fee and private golf clubs. Located in Rosemead, California, Whittier Narrows includes a 27-hole golf course that hosts over 100,000 rounds annually, a lighted driving range, and restaurant and catering facilities.
"The property is beautiful, the course conditions are excellent, and we have three distinct 9-hole layouts with options for not only experienced players but for beginners as well," says Steve Donar, the new General Manager at Whittier Narrows. "In addition to our golf course, we can also host weddings, receptions, and private events. We have something for everyone, and look forward to getting to know the local golfers and community."
American Golf was awarded a long-term lease with Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation for the operation of Whittier Narrows, and the course will join the over 50 California properties under American Golf's management--20 of which are other public golf courses located in the Los Angeles area. In collaboration with the County, American Golf has many dramatic improvements planned to upgrade the clubhouse and install additional catering facilities. Whittier Narrows will also join a network of courses on GOLFZING.com, an online tee time provider, and the course will implement The Players Club, American Golf's proprietary golfer development program.
"We are extremely proud to welcome Whittier Narrows into the American Golf family," says Jim Hinckley, CEO of American Golf Corporation. "We look forward to the opportunity to build upon our strong relationship with Los Angeles County as we work together to help attract local golfers and their families to the course and its facilities."
Jorge Badel, Senior Golf Director for the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, agrees. "Whittier Narrows is one of the crown jewels of the Los Angeles County golf system, and we know that our County golfers will benefit greatly from the excellent course conditions and customer service provided by American Golf. We too look forward to another successful partnership with American Golf at Whittier Narrows for many years to come."
The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation oversees the largest publicly owned golf course system in the Country, with 19 golf courses at 17 different facilities including Whittier Narrows. Securing the Whittier Narrows lease comes during an overall steady period of growth for American Golf, a long-time leader in the golf industry. While recovery from the difficult economic period of the early 2000's has been notably slow in the golf and hospitality world, American Golf looks forward to sustaining and expanding its current growth into 2015 and beyond.
The addition of Whittier Narrows Golf Course not only solidifies American Golf's position as a national leader in the golf industry, but in particular as the leading operator in Los Angeles and Southern California.
American Golf officially took over operations of Whittier Narrows Golf Course on Saturday, March 7, 2015. For more information about booking tee times or viewing the property, visit www.americangolf.com/whittier-narrows-golf-course or the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/whittiernarrowsgolf).
