Wildwater Kingdom Opens with a Splash for Memorial Day Weekend

AURORA, Ohio, May 23, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom will make a splash this weekend when the Aurora, Ohio, outdoor waterpark will open for the summer.  Special activities at the park will include a variety of $1 deals on food and a performance from Aurora's Harmon Middle School Band on Saturday.  

Wildwater Kingdom will be open Saturday through Monday, May 29-31 and daily beginning Saturday, June 5.  This weekend the park will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday.

The special food deals available throughout the weekend will include $1 hotdogs on Saturday, $1 cotton candy on Sunday, and $1 16-oz. fountain drinks on Monday.  On Opening Day, the Harmon Middle School will present a concert beginning with the National Anthem at 11 a.m.

Wildwater Kingdom season pass holders will also be able to bring a friend to the park for free on any day of the Opening Weekend.  

On Sunday and Monday, May 30-31, Wildwater Kingdom will be participating in Cedar Fair's "Tribute to the Armed Forces."  On those days, active and retired U.S. military personnel, with a valid ID, will receive free admission to the park as well as discounted tickets of $20.99 for their family members.  

Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, will also be the last day Spring Fling tickets can be purchased online at wildwaterfun.com for $19.99.  Spring Fling tickets will be valid on any day the park is open in June (daily June 5-30).  

New this season at Wildwater Kingdom will be The Beach Family Fun Area.  This new attraction will feature a giant Checker and Chess board with movable playing pieces.  There will also be an arcade and special games designed just for kids as well as a sandy beach area overlooking Geauga Lake where families can play in the sand.

In addition to the new Beach Family Fun Area, guests will also be able to enjoy an assortment of water slides and special attractions such as the Tidal Wave Bay wave pool, the Liquid Lightning tornado slide, Thunder Falls, Ohio's tallest water slide complex, and Splash Landing, four stories of watery fun.
