William R. King Joins Cincinnatus, Inc., as Senior Consultant
Foundation Executive Brings Complementary Expertise
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cincinnatus, Inc., a Minneapolis-based consulting firm serving nonprofit organizations, announced today the appointment of William R. King as senior consultant.
King, 63, retired in 2013 as president of the Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF), a regional association of grantmakers, after 25 years of service. At Cincinnatus, he will focus on consulting engagements in nonprofit and foundation leadership, strategic planning, best practice for grantmakers, nonprofits and nonprofit associations, as well as leadership succession and transition planning.
Diane Herman, Cincinnatus president, said, "We are extremely pleased that Bill has chosen to join our team of professional consultants. He is a highly experienced and talented leader of nonprofit organizations. His addition complements our capabilities, bringing a unique understanding of foundations that will benefit our clients. Bill shares our excitement about the potential of nonprofit organizations to make an impact in their communities."
King added, "I'm pleased to be joining Cincinnatus, which has a stellar reputation for providing high-quality consulting to nonprofits and foundations. Over the past year of semi-retirement from the Minnesota Council on Foundations, I've missed being engaged in a meaningful way with nonprofit, philanthropic and association leaders. I'm eager to again work with my nonprofit colleagues to share the knowledge I've gained through my many years of experience and leadership in the sector."
In his career with the Minnesota Council on Foundations, King served as president for 12 years. As president, he developed strategic and annual plans, introduced new revenue streams, including sponsorships, contract training, advertising and other sources of income, to secure the financial future of the organization. He represented the work of MCF and its leadership on public trust and accountability, nationally and internationally.
Prior to joining MCF, King served in a variety of corporate, consulting and nonprofit positions. Early in his business career, Bill served as community development group manager for the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce, where he directed the 5% Club (Keystone Awards), developed and managed programs addressing corporate social responsibility and charitable contributions and managed the Leadership Minneapolis program. Bill continues to be engaged in philanthropy and was recently selected to serve on the boards of directors of two family foundations. He also serves as a member of the Chancellor's Advisory Council, University of Minnesota, Morris, where he received his bachelor's degree. He lives in Minneapolis.
