SHELTON, Conn., Jan. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The William Raveis Charitable Fund (WRCF) raised more than $519,000 in 2017, and donated 100 percent of those funds to the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, an organization that identifies young, talented scientists with bold, innovative ideas about the future of cancer research. The charitable fund is the philanthropic arm of William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance (WRRE), which is led by Bill Raveis as Chief Executive Officer, and sons Chris Raveis and Ryan Raveis as Co-Presidents, who, just this week, were recognized by the Swanepoel Power 200 as the 36th most powerful and influential leaders in U.S. residential real estate.

On October 15, more than 700 people participated in the third annual family event, the Raveis Ride + Walk, in Norwalk, Conn, which raised more than $519,000, surpassing the 2016 total.

For Bill Raveis, this event began as a cause very close to home -- and his heart. He has witnessed how raising money for innovative cancer research can change people's lives. His wife, Candy, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia almost four years ago and doctors gave her a prognosis of five months to live. But thanks to a regimen of chemotherapy and new drugs targeting her cancer, she was given a new lease on life and grows stronger every day.
