CHICAGO, Nov. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Wilson Sporting Goods Co., announced today that Nicol David, currently ranked the #6 professional women's squash player in the world, has joined its Advisory Staff. David is one of the greatest players in the history of squash with eight World Championship titles and five British Open victories. She has been ranked as one of the top 10 players in the world for more than 151 months, and previously held the #1 world ranking for an unprecedented 112 months. As an Advisory Staff member, David will work with Wilson LABS, the innovation hub at Wilson, and provide insights that will help fuel the brand's development of next-generation, high performance squash equipment.
"Throughout my career, I've always focused on continually improving my performance and I am ecstatic to have the expertise and support of Wilson in my court now," said Nicol David. "Working with the Wilson group is a unique opportunity for me. I get to play with the very best, cutting edge gear, while helping to develop what players will use in the coming years. I'm having a lot of fun!"
"We are delighted to have Nicol David join the Wilson team," said Ben Porter, Global Manager, Wilson Squash. "Nicol is so accomplished and dynamic to watch on the court. And she is equally dynamic to collaborate with in the Lab. Our team is looking forward to seeing what we can create together to enhance player performance."
Nicol David plays with the brand's new Blade Countervail® squash racket and Wilson grips, as well as Luxilon strings. Countervail is a material technology that maximizes a player's energy, reduces muscle fatigue and shortens recovery time.*
David joins the Company's prolific Advisory Staff program, which was established more than 85 years ago and is comprised of more than 10,000 professional athletes, coaches, teaching pros and advisors across a wide variety of sports around the world.
*Kinesiology study conducted in spring 2016 evaluated Wilson tennis rackets with Countervail technology vs. standard Wilson tennis rackets without Countervail technology.
Note: Pros often customize the racket they use. Racket specifications on endorsed consumer models may vary from the models used by pros for match-play.
