Windermere Foundation Celebrates 25th Anniversary With "Charity Challenge"

Five winning non-profit organizations to receive a total of $125,000

SEATTLE, March 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of the Windermere Foundation's twenty-fifth anniversary, Windermere Real Estate is holding a "charity challenge" from March 17 - April 4 in which 21 non-profit organizations throughout the Western United States will compete for a $25,000 donation. At the end of the charity challenge, the five non-profit organizations that earn the most votes, will each receive $25,000 – totaling $125,000 in donations from the Windermere Foundation. The Windermere Foundation is the non-profit arm of Windermere Real Estate, one of the largest independent real estate companies in the nation with more than 7,000 agents and 300 offices throughout the Western U.S.

Using social media as the platform for the charity challenge, members of the public are encouraged to vote for their favorite non-profit on the Windermere Real Estate Facebook page. The 21 competing non-profits all reflect the Windermere Foundation's mission to provide support and services to low-income and homeless families.

"We wanted to honor the Windermere Foundation's 25^th anniversary in a way that would engage our agents, offices, and the public, while raising awareness for our non-profit partners," said OB Jacobi, president of Windermere Real Estate.

For the past 25 years, the Windermere Foundation has donated a portion of the proceeds from every home purchased or sold through Windermere towards supporting low-income and homeless families in communities throughout the Western U.S. As Windermere has grown through the years, so too has the Windermere Foundation, which now encompass ten states and has raised over $26 million for non-profit organizations that provide shelter, clothing, children's programs, emergency assistance, and other services to those in need.
