LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Wolfpack announced today its highly sought after free app is now available on all Android devices. The friendship app for guys (strictly platonic!) is currently popular in the US, UK, Australia and Canada and was rated one of the top 10 apps in 2015.
In 2015, Android took the lion share of the smartphone market with a whopping 79.4%. In fact, Android is outselling the iPhone nearly five to one. Releasing the app on Android devices is the next step for Wolfpack and what better way to start the New Year with an expanded group of friends?
Wolfpack connects like-minded guys looking for a social outlet – from poker night to barhopping to pickup basketball. The app matches users by learning their tastes: Hip-hop or techno? Sushi or pizza? Football or bocce? Whether a male needs a wingman for a night out, just moved to a new city for work or is looking for an excuse to get out of the house, this one download could be a game changer for his social life.
Nile Niami, better known as the man who is building the largest home in the world, came up with the name Wolfpack because he believes it encompasses what the app really embodies: friendship between men. Wolves are extremely social animals and exist as a social unit called a pack. The app makes it easy for men to make their own pack based on similar interests. In essence, it opens up an entire world men didn't know existed while removing any and all social awkwardness.
Once the app is downloaded, the user has the option of registering by signing up via Facebook or email. After registration is complete, a series of questions will be asked to help find guys nearby who have similar interests.
The inspiration for the app came from one of Niami's recently divorced male friends who realized all his social contacts were connected to his wife or had families of their own, leaving him by himself. Niami's idea came to fruition after doing some research and realizing that there were no apps catering to guys who were looking for other buddies.
Wolfpack app launched in mid 2015 on iOS and has been featured on Nightline, as well as in People Magazine, Details Magazine, Vice, Maxim, and Examiner, among many others.
