Women In Defense Michigan Chapter to Host Golf Outing Fundraiser on July 22

TROY, Mich., June 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Women In Defense (WID) Michigan Chapter will host its third annual 18-hole golf scramble on Friday, July 22 at Cherry Creek Golf Club, located at 52000 Cherry Creek Drive in Shelby Township. The outing will benefit the organization's HORIZONS-Michigan scholarship program, which encourages females to pursue careers related to the national security and defense industries within the United States and provides professional development opportunities to women already working in these fields.

"This event generates great networking opportunities, allows us to support and encourage women entering national security and defense professions and provides an enjoyable day at the golf course," said Major General Amy Courter, president of WID-Michigan, National Commander of the Civil Air Patrol and Partner, Consortio Development.

The group strongly encourages candidates to apply now for the HORIZONS-Michigan scholarship program. Applications are being accepted through October 1, 2011. On-site golf outing registration, use of the practice range and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., the shot gun start will be at 9 a.m., followed by a cocktail reception, strolling buffet and silent auction at 2 p.m. and awards at 4 p.m. In kind donations are also being accepted for the silent auction.

Registration is $165 for an individual golfer and $650 for a foursome. The price includes both green and cart fees, unlimited practice range access, breakfast, lunch, dinner and door prizes.
