Often described as "curling on grass," the object of lawn bowls is to roll a ball, or bowl, closest to the target, a small white ball called a jack. The shape of the bowl, slightly flattened on one side, creates a bias to the roll and therein lies the challenge. Easy to learn yet difficult to master, lawn bowls is currently enjoying a renaissance nationally and internationally at both the recreational and competitive levels.
