World's First DNA Astronauts to Launch Into Space
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Have you ever wanted to go to space? Not a multi-millionaire? No problem. rSPACE LLC, a company whose goal is to allow everyone the chance to actively and personally participate in a real rocket launch into outer space, announces the historical formation of the DNA Astronaut Corps. DNA Astronaut is the idea of J.P. Stevens, President and CEO of rSPACE LLC, former advisor to U.S. Senator John Glenn, Vice President of Space at the Aerospace Industries Association, and creator of the world's largest rocket contest.
"We have three goals – the first is to bring a new form of space travel within everyone's reach so they can experience the thrill of adventure and the dream that is space; the second is to provide a very unique gift; and the third is to encourage students to pursue an education in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields," stated Mr. Stevens.
There are several companies that are building vehicles for space tourists, but only a small minority of people can afford to spend the estimated $200,000 ride up into space on a short suborbital flight, and only about one in 13 million people will become a professional astronaut and orbit the earth.
"Now, anyone can enjoy the thrill of space by becoming a DNA Astronaut. Imagine -- this is your chance to join an elite group of people from all over the world on an exciting journey to the unknown and not break the bank!" Stevens said. "This history making service brings the thrill of space travel to anyone and everyone."
