EDMONTON, Feb. 17, 2015 /CNW/ - Wounded Warriors Canada is proud to announce it will make a $170,000 donation in 2015 to Can Praxis – Canada's leading PTSD Equine program supporting Canada's ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, and their families.
Can Praxis is designed to specifically address the ongoing challenges of conflict and crisis in a relationship brought on by the effects of PTSD and other Operational Stress Injuries. Horses provide an environment where honest and open feedback surrounding these concerns can be addressed in order to gain new understandings and "take away" skills to improve interpersonal communication and reduce conflict within relationships. Can Praxis is managed by licensed and certified facilitators with proven experience in relationship communication and conflict resolution.
For Wounded Warriors Canada, as a privately funded charity, this donation was made possible as a result of the ongoing partnership between Wounded Warriors Canada and Glenfiddich. Since 2012, Glenfiddich has donated over $300,000 to Wounded Warriors Canada with the funds raised now supporting the charity's funding for Can Praxis.
Phil Ralph, National Program Director for Wounded Warriors Canada, commented, "Can Praxis is an internationally recognized program for PTSD headquartered in Alberta. To date, our funding has supported over 80 couples that have experienced this innovative program. Wounded Warriors Canada, through our partnership with Glenfiddich, is extremely proud to be their national funding partner – ensuring that no matter where a serving or retired Canadian Armed Forces member resides, this programs is accessible at no cost".
