W.R. Timken, Jr. Former U.S. Ambassador, Joins Strategic Public Partners Group as Chairman of the Board
Timken to lead business development efforts and assist strategic government affairs efforts for existing clients
WASHINGTON and COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas Whatman, chief executive officer of Strategic Public Partners Group, announced today that W.R. "Tim" Timken, Jr. has joined the firm as chairman of its board of directors.

Mr. Timken, having recently returned to the United States from The Federal Republic of Germany, where he served for three and a half years as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America, brings his business and political acumen to Strategic Public Partners Group, where he will lead business development efforts and help guide current clients to meet and exceed their business and political goals.

During his private sector career, Timken served as chairman of the board of directors of The Timken Company from 1975 until August, 2005. Under his leadership, The Timken Company experienced significant growth and was transformed from a regional manufacturer of bearings to a worldwide leader in the bearing and alloy steel industries. He retired as an executive of the company at the end of 2003, but continued as non-executive chairman of the board until he became Ambassador to Germany.
Mr. Timken has been active in many professional associations, including serving as chairman of the National Association of Manufacturers and The Manufacturing Institute. He was a member of the Council on Competitiveness, the U.S.-Japan Business Council and a founding member and past chairman of the Ohio Business Roundtable
