AMES, Iowa, Feb. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --The software services company Xpanxion has been recognized with an Economic Impact Award by the Ames Economic Development Commission for its influence in the city of Ames, Iowa, and surrounding Story County. Xpanxion CEO Paul Eurek accepted the award at Thursday night's Ames Chamber banquet.
The annual award is given to companies that have made significant contributions to the greater Ames community through business growth and job creation. The selection is made by Ames Economic Development staff based upon job creation, community involvement, and engagement with local leaders and the University.
"Xpanxion's rural sourcing model is a perfect fit for our community, helping to solidify Ames' growing status as a technology community," said Ron Hallenbeck, Executive Vice President of Existing Business and Industry at the AEDC.
Rural sourcing utilizes talent in small rural communities to perform high value work for companies located anywhere throughout the country. Hallenbeck and other leaders in Ames commended Xpanxion's eagerness to reach out to the business community and Iowa State University.
Since opening an office in Ames, Eurek has pushed Xpanxion to become actively involved in the community and provide a positive impact.
"Communities like Ames build the foundation for great companies to thrive, and our growth is proof that Ames and Story County have the ability to produce the quality talent that we need to be successful," Eurek said in reaction to receiving the award. "I am ecstatic that we can give back and make a difference in the community through quality job creation, which helps retain talented individuals and bring back former residents who left their rural home to pursue a career."
Xpanxion opened its Ames software center in the fall of 2011. The center's job base saw 147 percent growth in 2013. The company has since opened a second location in Kearney, Neb., and a center in Manhattan, Kan.
