
Yellow Cab polo team wins Maserati Miami Beach Polo World Cup VIII
NEW YORK, May 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Yellow Cab polo team, comprised of Simon Garber, Kris Kampsen and Juan Monteverde, was named the winner of the Maserati Miami Beach Polo World Cup VIII.
Simon Garber, entrepreneur, polo player and founder of the International Polo Club of Colts Neck (IPCoCN) sponsored two men's teams at the international event. The winning team, the Yellow Cab, and the SLS JETS team which include two of Simon's sons Shaun and Jeffrey Garber and the world class players Brandon Phillips, of Canada and Nic Roldan, of U.S.
During the two matches played on Friday and Saturday, American Kris Kampsen scored 16 goals, including a 2-pointer from nearly the length of the field, Argentinean Juan Monteverde scored 4 goals and Simon Garber scored 3 times before the rains and winds forced the cancellation of the final day.
Simon began playing polo ten years ago and is passionate about this sport. He believes it is the perfect integration of good sportsmanship, athletic competitiveness, a gracious lifestyle, philanthropy and family. He, and his wife Elina, founded the International Polo Club of Colts Neck (IPCoCN), New Jersey, in 2009 with the goal of expanding the reach of this exciting and ancient sport.
This summer the IPCoCN will hold seven Sunday matches in June, July and August. Each match will include teams with world ranked polo players. The opening June 24th match will be a benefit for the Guardian Angels. Founded by Curtis Sliwa the Guardian Angels is now protecting neighborhoods across the United States and around the world.
