Yellow Pages United Announces Recipient Of $2500 Inaugural Mark Smith Scholarship
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla., Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Yellow Pages United, a Jacksonville Beach-based digital marketing company, has awarded the inaugural Mark Smith Scholarship to first-generation college student Carlos Velasco, a Graphic Design major at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The company's first ever scholarship contest challenged marketing, graphic design or related majors nationwide to create an infographic depicting how marketing has changed from their parents' generation to their own. Velasco is receiving $2500 towards his studies for his winning infographic "Advertising: From Mad Men to Hashtags."

"Innovation is the heart of our business," said Mark Smith, Yellow Pages United's founder and CEO, "and there's no better way to foster it than helping to provide an education for an imaginative and enthusiastic student like Carlos."
First announced in December, the scholarship aimed to engage young creative minds and drew entries from students around the country. Ultimately Carlos' work won over the scholarship committee by presenting the most comprehensive and compelling information in an extremely readable way.
"Being able to have an education is the most important thing in my life," said Velasco, who helps support himself by providing design services to several campus organizations. "Studying Graphic Design has been my dream since I was a kid."
