DAVIS, Calif., Oct. 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Yolo Hospice, Sacramento Valley's only hospice provider that houses a pediatric bereavement program, has received family satisfaction scores that lead the nation in the area of grief support. Yolo Hospice's Bereavement program scored 20 points higher for family satisfaction than the national average.
According to performance criteria compiled from Family Evaluation of Hospice Care (FEHC) survey, nearly 83 percent of Yolo Hospice patient-family members believed Yolo Hospice met their needs "very well" compared to a national average of just 63.3 percent. The FEHC survey reflects the quality of care delivered from the perspective of family caregivers making it the most widely used and accepted tool for measuring and tracking the quality of hospice care. The FEHC survey results follow a recertification survey from the California Department of Public Health, where a state surveyor referred to Yolo Hospice's bereavement program as a "best practice."
Every day Yolo Hospice brings care, comfort and support to those facing a serious illness. Providing emotional support to families before and after the death of a loved one is a vital part of the Yolo Hospice mission.
"Our comprehensive, client-centered program recognizes that one size doesn't fit all . . . that grief affects the whole family, that we each grieve differently and we may need different sources of support at different times in our journey," said Denise Rose, bereavement services manager, Yolo Hospice. "Our extensive array of services includes workshops, drop-in groups, 8-week groups, individual support, our 700-title grief support library, annual memorial service, referrals to community services, and community presentations. These services are delivered by an outstanding team of trained professionals and dedicated volunteers."
This industry-benchmark of excellent performance recognizes Yolo Hospice as a top national performer in end-of-life care.
