Massachusetts-based organization opens new avenues for training broadcasters, executives and students with online learning platform
BURLINGTON, Mass., June 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Young Broadcasters of America (YBA), an organization founded to help 10-18 year old students improve their communication skills and confidence both on-air and off-air, is expanding its offerings by integrating it's learning – The Individual Learning Platform™, an online learning platform designed to support individualized and collaborative instruction. The online platform will allow YBA to reach more interested participants and will supplement its studio-based teaching and training with effective online video-based approaches.
The it's learning platform will allow YBA students to upload samples of their audio and video broadcasting segments and assignments. Using it's learning, local broadcasters and industry leaders will have access to the students work online for critical analysis. Students will receive the feedback from the professionals as a resource to improve their broadcasting skills including delivery techniques, preparation and real-time context setting. Also, with it's learning, students can now earn YBA course certification online.
"Our goal at YBA is to teach students the communication skills necessary to be successful in adulthood, regardless of whether they pursue a career in the broadcasting industry," said Jimmy Young, former sportscaster, President and Founder of Young Broadcasters of America. "Implementing it's learning will allow students to develop these skills whether or not they can attend a class at our facility. Providing a platform for increased instruction, communication, and collaboration, it's learning will allow us to expand our program with online offerings to meet the needs of students across the U.S. and around the world."
Originally named Young Sportscasters of America, and later changed to Young Broadcasters of America to better reflect the organization's instruction in other areas of broadcast media, YBA's mission is to use a fun, interactive and educational learning environment to provide critical and transferable oral communication training to young adults. At YBA, the techniques taught and the skills cultivated yield dramatic improvement in poise, confidence, self-esteem, and proper use of the English language. Taught by industry professionals and notable Boston-based media personalities, the YBA curriculum includes both technical instruction and practical application of the skills learned.
"The integration of it's learning into the YBA program shows another unique way that our individualized learning platform can assist in the education process," said Jon Bower, President of it's learning, inc. "Using it's learning to supplement in-person teaching will give far more students the opportunity to improve their communications skills using an engaging and multimedia-rich platform."
it's learning will be integrated into the YBA program in September 2010. For more about Young Broadcasters of America, visit www.youngbroadcasters.com. For more information about it's learning, visit www.itslearning.net.
