Young Canadian farmers are gathering in Ottawa for their annual conference
OTTAWA, Feb. 27, 2015 /CNW/ - More than 130 young farmers are gathering in Ottawa for the Canadian Young Farmers' Forum (CYFF) annual conference. Egg Farmers of Canada is proud to be sponsoring the conference for a second year, which will be focused on the theme Family Farming 2.0. – Preparing for 2050.
"It is so rewarding to gather with the new and younger Canadian farmers to discuss the steps we need to take, collectively, to ensure a vibrant and successful agriculture sector for the years to come," said Chief Executive Officer of Egg Farmers of Canada, Tim Lambert.
With the federal elections on the horizon, the organizers of the conference have put together an agenda that focuses on topics such as technological innovations for rural enterprises, best management practices and the importance of social license.
"The CYFF is pleased to be hosting our national young farmer's conference in Canada's capital city. Our annual event brings young leading farmers from coast to coast for networking, education and sharing of best practices," highlighted Guenette Bautz, CYFF General Manager. Tim Lambert, CEO of Egg Farmers of Canada will address the CYFF delegates on the topic of corporate social responsibility, a core principle embraced by the Canadian egg industry.. Young Nova Scotia egg farmer Blake Jennings will also talk to his peers about his farming operation that is almost entirely reliant on wind energy.
"We are seeing a unique trend in egg farming which is more new entrants and younger farmers. Blake Jennings story is one of many, many successful ones in egg farming, thanks to the stability afforded by the system of supply management," added Tim Lambert.
The conference is taking place from February 27 to March 2nd at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa.
