YouSendIt Announces 'Business Heroes' Contest Winners

CAMPBELL, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- YouSendIt, the number-one secure digital file delivery company on the Web, today announced the winners of the YouSendIt Business Heroes Contest, which recognizes and celebrates the various ways YouSendIt customers "saved the day" by using the service.

Launched in October 2009, the YouSendIt Business Heroes Contest received more than 500 story submissions and over 11,000 votes cast for contest finalists from the United States and Canada. Submissions were evaluated on how each story best embodied YouSendIt's corporate values – simple, helpful, reliable and innovative.

The grand-prize-winning entry and the People's Choice winner was "YouSendIt....Part of the Medical Team for the Tiniest Babies," submitted by April Ingram, in which a group of physicians who developed a protocol to screen premature babies for a potentially blinding condition used YouSendIt to send large folders containing images of babies' eyes for screening to determine if surgical intervention was needed to save their sight. Because the disease progresses so rapidly, the images need to be read by a specialist within 24 hours. The server normally used for image transfer was unavailable, so the team of physicians used YouSendIt to securely, quickly and easily send these critical files to the specialist in a matter of minutes.

Other winners of the YouSendIt Business Heroes Contest include:

• Second prize – "Hurricane Katrina & YouSendIt," submitted by Sandra Denisuk -- helped to reunite lost pets with their owners by using YouSendIt to send large lists with owner information, description of the pets and addresses.
• Third prize – "YouSendIt Instrumental in Forest Fire Suppression," submitted by Rod Moniuk --helped to save a significant amount of forested land, wildlife and homes from out-of-control wildfires in an area that had not seen any rain for nearly three months. Unable to use the government servers because of firewall issues, he used YouSendIt to send maps so people living in the areas could evacuate their homes safely.

The prizes included:

• Grand prize – $1,000 cash, a "Get Away from It All" party with 10 friends, a three-year subscription to YouSendIt for the winner and 10 friends, a FlipVideo HD camera and an honored position in the YouSendIt Hall of Fame online.
• Second prize – an iPhone 3G gift card with the YouSendIt Tracker app for the iPhone, a three-year subscription to YouSendIt for the winner and three friends and a YouSendIt T-shirt.
• Third prize – a three-year subscription to YouSendIt for the winner and one friend, a $50 Starbucks gift card and a YouSendIt T-shirt.
• People's Choice – a three-year subscription to YouSendIt, iPhone 3G gift card with YouSendIt Tracker and a YouSendIt T-shirt.
