YouTube Bans PregnancyChat Support Channel
Monica Healy's YouTube channel, PregnancyChat, was been banned from the website. As a mother of six, Healy said that her mission is to offer pregnancy support to moms-to-be. During the past two years Healy's channel has received millions of views and gained thousands of subscribers, until YouTube recently banned her channel. According to Healy, she inquired as to why her Youtube channel had been banned, but she has yet to be given a reason.
DUBLIN, April 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- YouTube abruptly terminated a channel offering pregnancy and parenting support. The YouTube channel, PregnancyChat, was established more than two years ago in an effort to provide mothers-to-be with support regarding the challenges and surprises, which pregnancy and parenting present on a daily basis.

PregnancyChat provided pregnant mothers with videos explaining what is happening during their pregnancy week-by-week. While there are a variety of pregnancy books and calendars on the market, it can be more personal and comforting to watch a mother of six who understands how viewers feel, explained Monica Healy, the creator of PregnancyChat. Healy's videos discussed things like coping with miscarriage, whether to breast or bottle feed, and what an expectant dad should know.
Healy, a 61-year-old mother and grandmother living in Dublin, Ireland, has raised six children. She has more than 30 years of medical diagnostic imaging experience, and has worked, studied and lectured in North America, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
In February, Healy, who owns and operates Ultrasound Dimensions, a pregnancy ultrasound facility of Dublin, Ireland, broke the news of the cancellation to her viewers on her blog. After reading the news, Healy said that she received support from her followers. "Thousands of supporters are heartbroken and outraged that this action has been taken without just cause," she said.
There were multiple commenters on Healy's blog who used the term "abandoned" to express how they felt without access to Monica's videos, and some of the commenters referred to her videos as "conversations with Grandma." The commenters said that they are prepared to stand behind her through it all, just as she has done for them.
Healy said that she has asked YouTube on several occasions why her channel was terminated, but has not yet received an answer. In reviewing the YouTube terms of service, Healy said she felt she did not breach any of the listed violations. Healy explained that she is not a repeat offender and has never received any warning from YouTube in any way.
Healy explained that no one from YouTube has returned any of her correspondence. Healy said, "ignoring my desperate pleas for an explanation has not only left me in the dark, but has also left all of my followers disappointed and disconnected."
"Pregnancy and birth are the most exciting times in a woman's life," Healy explained, "but they can also be frightening when you don't have support and understanding. These mothers need their Grandma back."
