Zacks US Equity Mutual Fund Rank Predicts Winners

CHICAGO, March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In its first year of live performance the Zacks Mutual Fund Rank was successful in predicting relative returns of Mutual Funds during the year 2014

The Zacks Mutual Fund Rank, provided to Zacks clients at the beginning of 2014, was able to separate funds with similar objectives into quintiles such that, during the year 2014, the average fund in the top quintile outperformed the average fund in the bottom quintile by up to 3.9 %

The Zacks Mutual Fund Rank, which was formulated during 2013, is based on the findings of academic finance that although the equity markets may be highly efficient, Mutual Fund performance is influenced by organizational, institutional and behavioral factors and can be predicted. 

This is the first year of live performance of the Zacks Mutual Fund Rank which classifies funds into categories and predicts relative performance within each category. We are confident that over the next decades the Zacks Mutual Fund Rank will deliver the same type of stellar performance as has the Zacks Stock Rank – whose top portfolio outperformed the S&P 500 in 23 out of the last 26 years.

During 2014 the Zacks Mutual Fund Rank was able to separate funds into top and bottom performing quintiles in all 11 of the US Equity Fund categories, with quintile spreads ranging from .3 % to 3.9 %
