ZBALLERINI To Open Holiday Pop-Up Store in Midtown Detroit

DETROIT, Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ZBALLERINI announced today that it will be opening a Pop-Up Store in Midtown Detroit for the holidays beginning Thursday, November 5. The store – the first ever for the up-and-coming Detroit designer – will showcase Ballerini's handmade travel, business and everyday bags which, until now, have only been available online.

The ZBALLERINI line features innovative, iconic designs presented in a transformational way that incorporate soft Merino wool, supple leather, 100% organic hemp, exquisitely engineered latches and high-end Lampo zippers.

Founder and designer Mike Ballerini's roots are deeply grounded in Detroit. His father studied photography at CCS, which was then called the Center for Creative Studies. His chief seamstress also graduated from CCS and – in the true spirit of "paying it forward" – Mike himself recently spoke to CCS students about what it takes to be a successful designer/entrepreneur in today's highly competitive marketplace.

The pop-up store will give designer Mike Ballerini a unique opportunity to meet face-to-face with his customers, something he always enjoyed when working high-end retail before founding ZBALLERINI in 2013.

Every ZBALLERINI bag has a name and a story inspired by pivotal moments in Ballerini's life. Jake is a top-flight weekender bag named after a beloved family pet. Charlie is a backpack reinvented in the form of a tortoise shell. Capac, named for the rural Michigan town in which Mike was born, is the ZB messenger bag. The classic duffel bag comes to life in Gabriel – named after the protagonist of one of Ballerini's favorite books. Rounding out the line is a quintessential toiletries bag P&O, named after Mike's grandfather's tractor company.

Ballerini credits his customers for helping inspire his line of bags for the modern man. Setting up a retail pop-up store in Detroit is a way of giving back to the people who gave him the courage to create the line in the first place. "Talking with customers is invaluable," he said.
