Zerofractal publishes first-ever AR book app for Dean Koontz novel
MIAMI, Aug. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Zerofractal Studios, in conjunction with Random House Publishing, announced the release of their latest AR (Augmented Reality) application. The app, featuring #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Dean Koontz' new novel "Odd Apocalypse", presents an entirely new way to see book cover art.

By pointing your device (iPhone, iPad, Android or Desktop) at the book's cover, the application will transform it into a portal with organic character animation and digital smoke.

"From the beginning we were very confident that we could deliver this Augmented Reality solution, since we had the experience from previous projects. The only thing was that this time it needed to track an image and not just a black and white square like regular AR markers. The second challenge was to integrate it into the existing Dean Koontz app created by Mobile Roadie. Thankfully, we managed to get everything done in an exceptionally short period of time."

Technical Information:
- Maya was used for all of the Computer Generated content, from modeling to texturing and animation.
- Final content was passed to Unity3D, where lights and particle smoke was applied
- From Unity3D, three separate builds were made for iOS, android and Adobe Flash.
