In its survey of nearly 3,000 CDS users (consisting of physicians, hospital quality officers, IT/clinical informatics staff, nurses, radiologists, pharmacists, and ancillary staff), Black Book found that the compelling reason for healthcare organizations to purchase CDS solutions in 2012 is for support in accountable care and payment reform. Organizations that will become Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and assume financial risk will require a CDS solution to maximize shared savings.
