AARP The Magazine Announces Presenters for the 17th Annual Movies for Grownups® Awards

"When the editors of AARP The Magazine decided 16 years ago that is was time to challenge Hollywood's perspective on aging, we hoped that the Movies for Grownups Awards would ignite a cultural change," said AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins. "This year, it is clear that change has arrived. There's been an explosion of movies that disrupt conventional thoughts on aging, and 17 of the top 20 box office stars are over 50.  We are proud to celebrate these extraordinary movies and filmmakers."

The Movies for Grownups^® Awards will also be broadcast for the first time. Co-produced by the Great Performances series, the awards premiere Friday, February 23 at 9 p.m. on PBS, (check local listings), pbs.org/gperf and PBS apps. 

Event proceeds raise funds for AARP Foundation, AARP's charitable affiliate, which works to end senior poverty by building economic opportunity and social connections for vulnerable older adults in L.A. and across the country.
