Peter Appel named Chief Executive Officer; Tim Kubiak joins as President and Chief Operating Officer; Eric Eng named Chief Strategy Officer
CHICAGO, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- American Industrial Transport, Inc. ("AITX") today announced three executive leadership appointments as the company advances its strategy to deliver more integrated railcar solutions that help freight shippers navigate increasingly dynamic supply chain logistics.
Peter Appel has been named Chief Executive Officer, Tim Kubiak has joined AITX as President and Chief Operating Officer, and Eric Eng has been named Chief Strategy Officer. Together, the appointments strengthen AITX's leadership across strategy and operations as the company brings its capabilities together to make railcar fleets easier to manage, more predictable, and more productive for customers.
As CEO, Mr. Appel will lead AITX's strategy and continued evolution into a more unified railcar solutions provider built around how customers operate and what they need next. He has served as AITX's interim CEO since November 2025. Appel has spent the past 12 years as Managing Director, Head of Rail at ITE Management, where he developed its rail platform from the ground up into one of the largest railcar fleets in North America and Europe. Combined with eight years of service on AITX's Board of Directors, that experience gives him familiarity with the business, its customers, and the forces shaping the rail market. Prior to joining ITE, Appel held senior roles in specialty finance for more than a decade.
"AITX has built one of the most capable rail platforms in the industry, with the ability to support customers across virtually every part of the railcar lifecycle. Now, we want to make that experience as seamless and efficient as possible," said Peter Appel. "It's what makes me most excited about our future."
As President and COO, Mr. Kubiak will lead AITX's commercial, operations, and technology organizations, with a focus on connecting customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and revenue growth to drive stronger performance. He brings more than two decades of experience leading complex rail businesses, most recently as President and CEO of Wells Fargo Rail Corporation. Across Wells Fargo Rail and GE Capital Rail Services before that, he led teams spanning commercial operations, fleet logistics, maintenance, capital investment, and continuous improvement.
As Chief Strategy Officer, Mr. Eng will help shape AITX's long-term strategy, identify opportunities for growth, and strengthen alignment across the business. He has worked closely with AITX for years, bringing a data-driven perspective to identifying where the company can create the most value. During his tenure at ITE Management, most recently as Director of Rail Portfolio Management, he combined industry insight with analytics to help guide key decisions across ITE's rail platform. He began his career at J.P. Morgan in roles focused on business analytics, process improvement, and financial analysis.
"Tim brings deep experience leading rail businesses at scale and getting the most out of both teams and systems. Eric has an intimate understanding of our strategy and where the next opportunities are. Together with the leadership team in place, we have the right people to raise the bar for what customers should expect from a railcar partner," added Appel.
