Dubbed the EDU Ready Pledge, National Academic Group and 3rd Quote have launched this initiative. The Pledge was first announced on Education Talk Radio hosted by Larry Jacobs.
The Pledge is designed to address longstanding conversations, issues, and concerns that have been voiced in the Edtech industry. D. Richard Mantz, CEO of National Academic Group, noted, "It was time we took leadership in this area not just talking about the issues, but actually doing something beneficial."
"Our Pledge will go a long way in ensuring schools know that this group of Edtech providers is truly looking out for their students' best interests, not just their bottom lines. As a former K-12 teacher and district technology leader, this Pledge will give schools confidence the signatories understand the unique needs of schools, students, and their local communities while knowing the claims of efficacy are founded," voiced Edwin Wargo, CEO of 3rd Quote.
The four themes in the Pledge are:
- Collaborating with schools as informed consumers to determine their local specific needs, goals, and priorities.
- Maintaining open and transparent communication with school stakeholders.
- Committing to high standards of business and data ethics when working with schools.
- Engaging in the larger education and educational technology community to serve as a trusted advisor and resource to schools.
A 30-day comment period is open for anyone to opine. There will also be five live Q&A sessions to address any comments. Additionally, a Working Group will convene to ensure the Pledge addresses the needs of the community.
