Interactive Interstate One Image Tractor-Trailer Gives Attendees Lessons in Trucking
ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, America's Road Team is at Omnitracs Outlook 2016 showcasing American Trucking Associations' Interstate One Image Tractor-Trailer and educating attendees about the trucking industry's essentiality and commitment to safety.
"Attendees at the conference who may not have the opportunity to drive a truck will get a great chance to see what our job entails while taking a spin on Interstate One's truck driving simulator," said America's Road Team Captain Don Logan (FedEx Freight). "We are here to demonstrate the importance of the trucking industry and show folks what it means to be a professional truck driver who operates safely on a daily basis."
America's Road Team Captains are professional truck drivers who take a few days out of the cab of the truck each month to speak to diverse groups about their careers, safety-first approach to driving and the importance of the trucking industry on the American way of life. Since the programs' creation in 1986, America's Road Team Captains have spoken to community groups, business leaders, public officials and young drivers about trucking and how motorists can safely drive their vehicles near large trucks.
Nationally, there are more than 3.4 million professional truck drivers and the trucking industry employs more than 7.1 million people, or one out of every 16 people working in the United States. Additionally, more than 80 percent of U.S. communities rely solely on trucking to deliver their goods and commodities.
"We are very fortunate to have some of the most impressive professional truck drivers in the industry, America's Road Team, here in Dallas for Omnitracs Outlook 2016," said Jim Gardner, vice president of marketing at Omnitracs. "Supporting America's Road Team's program is a priority of Omnitracs and we think many of the conference attendees will learn valuable lessons about safety and the industry from these elite drivers."
America's Road Team Captains are exhibiting Interstate One as part of their appearance at the conference. Interstate One, with the generous support of Omnitracs and others, travels the United States visiting state capitols, high schools, community events and more. The 53-foot show trailer, fully wrapped in an American flag themed graphic is a classroom on wheels with seven screens, educational displays and a computer program that acts as a truck driving simulator.
