Ameritas Hispanic Pathways premiered at HACU International Conference
SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ameritas College Educational Services unveiled today its unique innovative Dual Language English Immersion program, Ameritas Hispanic Pathways at the International Conference of the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU). It is designed for two and four-year colleges and universities to assist in increasing higher education enrollment and graduation rates within the Hispanic community.
"Ameritas Hispanic Pathways can help higher educational institutions truly reach out to their Hispanic Communities with a bilingual support system both inside and outside of the classroom that meets the Latino student 'where they are' from both a language and cultural perspective, and delivers a much improved system for collegiate success," said Tony Digiovanni, CEO, Ameritas College Educational Services. "Our ability to improve the Hispanic graduation rate through to the Bachelor's level is key to our country's long term global success."
The Ameritas Hispanic Pathways program represents a comprehensive bilingual outreach, including enrollment, student services, and dual language course content for colleges. "Ameritas Hispanic Pathways has been designed to meet the aspirations of Hispanic students. Its Dual Language English Immersion approach in the classroom is the first of its kind," said Dr. Carmen Lamboy-Naughton, Dean, Ameritas College of Brandman University. "Both the language and cultural perspectives are considered important and are leveraged to unlock the full potential of each and every student. We plan to partner with colleges around the country to bring this outreach to our fastest growing minority."
Targeted at the fastest growing minority population in America, Ameritas Hispanic Pathways seeks to ensure that a student's language skills do not impede learning, but instead enhance potential advantages for them both academically and career wise. The long-term objective of the Ameritas program is to help create a skilled and robust bilingual workforce for the future through its Hispanic graduates.
